What the dining room keeps
A restaurant room records use differently from a kitchen. Linen softens. Brass darkens. Oak gathers marks at the exact height of a chair. We chose materials that improve through service.
The tables were made for the room by a workshop eight miles away, from oak that had already spent a century as something else. The marks they gather now are part of the same record.
Nothing in the room is precious. Everything in it is looked after. That distinction is most of what people mean when they say a room feels warm.
